AID FOR AIDS International is excited to announce its 10th annual My Hero Gala. The evening where we celebrate the courage to make a difference and honor those who have made substantial contributions to the battle against HIV and AIDS. The My Hero Gala is both the culmination and the highlight of our fundraising year, and is critical to our efforts to build awareness of our mission within the community.

This year, the My Hero Gala marks the 15th anniversary of AID FOR AIDS. As such, this event symbolizes our ability to empower people and communities for a decade and a half, while continuing to provide access to HIV treatment, education, HIV prevention strategies, and tools for advocacy to thousands of people around the world. We take justifiable pride in those accomplishments, but at the same time we are humbled by the enormity of the task we have taken on, and the fearsome toll that HIV continues to take on the developing world.

The My Hero Gala will be held November 8 at Three Sixty in Tribeca (10 Desbrosses Street). Tickets for the event are now on sale, and, as always, we urge all our supporters to book their tickets and reserve their tables as early as possible. To purchase tickets now, click here.

This year’s My Hero honorees are an impressive group. Robert Duffy, the president of Marc Jacobs International, and his husband, Alex Cespedes, are among the fashion industry’s most committed supporters of HIV/AIDS service organizations; Lina Moreno De Uribe, the former First Lady of Colombia, has helped lead her country toward greater involvement in the struggle against HIV/AIDS; Miguel Bosé has used his platform as a celebrity and music icon to raise funds to fight AIDS; and Patricia Perez is the president of the International Community for Women Living with HIV or AIDS, which supports women with advocacy initiatives across the globe.

Previous My Hero honorees have included Mario Testino, Linda Evangelista, William A. Haseltine, Narcisco Rodriguez, Gael Garcia Bernal and Vivian Fernandez de Torrijos. Among the many friends who have joined us at My Hero in past years are Carolina Herrera, Sonia Braga, Fernando Botero and Sophia Vari, to name but a few.
This year’s My Hero co-chairs are AID FOR AIDS International board members Maria Eugenia Maury Arria, Graciela Dauhajre and Maria Jose Hidalgo. Their behind-the-scenes efforts, and those of all the members of the Gala committee, are deeply appreciated.
