This past Monday November 25th we celebrated our biggest fundraising event of the year: the 2019 My Hero Gala! And we couldn’t be happier to have celebrated our achievements with some of the people closest to our organization. This year and for the very first time, our My Hero Gala was entirely focused on a country, by be celebrating the heroes who have made extraordinary contributions to alleviate the complex humanitarian emergency in Venezuela.

We are proud to announce that this year we raised $1.3 million thanks to the support of our corporate sponsors, patrons and guests. Since its first edition in 2001, the My Hero Gala has served as a platform to raise awareness about our mission while honoring the companies and individuals that have had the courage to make a difference in the lives of others. Now on its 18th edition, the My Hero Gala was held in the American Museum of Natural History in NYC.

This year’s honorees included World Central Kitchen and its founder, Chef Jose Andrés, by highlighting his efforts to feed hundreds of Venezuelan children. ViiV Healthcare and Gilead Sciences were also honored for their significant donations that have allowed us to guarantee treatment for thousands of Venezuelans in the region. Finally, MLB player Nelson Cruz was recognized for his significant role in our Healing Venezuela campaign.

Throughout the evening, attendees were also able to appreciate the 14 artworks from the Bernard Chappard collection for AID FOR AIDS that were exhibited at the Gala. The collection is currently being auctioned for the benefit of the organization. If you are interested in acquiring one of the pieces, please contact us via email.
