AID FOR AIDS is proud to announce that the director of our Advocacy Department, Enrique Chavez, has been chosen as a member of the Communities Living With HIV, Tuberculosis and affected by Malaria Delegation of the Global Fund.
The Communities Delegation aims to bring the voices and issues of people living with HIV, TB and Malaria to the deliberations of the Global Fund Board and its committees. Delegation members serve a 3-year term, and may be granted a 2-year extension, dependent upon a performance-based assessment by the delegation’s leadership. To be eligible to serve, members must be living with HIV, Malaria or TB, and must have expertise in, and an understanding of, the scope of the work of the Global Fund.
While his participation on the delegation will be outside his duties at AID FOR AIDS, Chavez credits AFAI with making this professional achievement possible.
“AID FOR AIDS taught me just about everything I know about HIV advocacy,” he says. “And, now, as a member of the delegation, I have yet another forum to put that experience into action and advocate for the health needs and rights of people with HIV or AIDS. I’m honored to be chosen as a delegate, and I plan to be a very active and vocal one.”
