AID FOR AIDS Peru has reached nearly 6,500 people with HIV prevention in 2022
In 2022, AID FOR AIDS Peru has done several outreach activities in Lima to reach people with or at risk of HIV, and the population at large to share HIV prevention and treatment information. Nearly 6,500 people have been reached, including people from the LGBTQ+ community, sex workers and Venezuelan migrants and refugees with HIV and/or syphilis.
Out of this, over 6,300 people got tested and 145 received an HIV positive result. AID FOR AIDS provided quick and timely information to start their treatment.
Given the complex humanitarian emergency that Venezuela has been facing for many years and the influx of Venezuelans in Peru, AID FOR AIDS has been providing services such as linkage to care, to enroll them in the Peruvian health system and secure their HIV treatment.
AFA Peru remains aligned to the UNAIDS goal to end the epidemic by 2030, and it has been doing it through HIV testing, outreach to provide HIV prevention and treatment information, linkage to care and screening.
