“Today is a day of sadness and deep grief” says Jesus Aguais, Founder and Executive Director of AIDS for AIDS.  Joep Lange, Dutch scientist and former President of the AIDS Society, has been a world leader in HIV treatment research for over twenty years.  Along with Dr. Lange, more than 100 other representatives, leaders and experts in the AIDS field have been permanently silenced by this act of terror.  Those who worked to save lives have lost theirs as a consequence of this heinous act.  This terrible loss not only puts a cloud over those gathered in Melbourne, Australia for the International AIDS Conference, but over all activists, Health Care Providers, Policy Advocates and researches in the HIV field. This is also a sad day for the thousands of people who would have benefited from the future work of all those lost.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and colleagues of those aboard Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.
