AID FOR AIDS International invites everybody in New York to join us at the 4th annual LGBTQ Immigration Fair and Cultural Event organized by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Community Center (The Center). At the event, the AFAI team, part of our New York Immigrant AIDS Link (NYIAL) program, will be providing free HIV rapid testing, preventive education and counseling services.

This year’s LGBTQ Immigration Fair will take place on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 4PM – 7PM at The Center located at 208 West 13th Street, Room 301 in New York City. It will feature an array of workshops where information will be presented by gay-friendly attorneys, health care providers and community organizations, which offer housing and social service information. The entire event is free and open to all interested individuals.

This is the fourth time that AID FOR AIDS joins the Center in this event and represents a great opportunity for AID FOR AIDS to provide vital information regarding the services provided at our local office and to conduct HIV testing. “We are placing a special emphasis on prevention as key to eliminating HIV and AID FOR AIDS has been testing individuals at its offices and has done so off premises as well for the last two years. We have been particularly successful at expanding HIV prevention through our outreach in Latin American consulates, health fairs and at Bioscrip’s Chelsea location,” said David Mosquera, outreach coordinator.

This unique Fair is being presented around the scheduling of New York City’s 9th annual Immigrant Heritage Week by the Center’s Social Action group and will be followed by entertainment provided by members of the LGBTQ community.  The event concludes at 9P.
