Another semester has come and gone, which means it is time for us to say goodbye to our Spring 2013 Interns! This year we were very fortunate to have two very special young men helping us out with our HIV Medicine Recycling Program. Nelson Campos and Firuz Khamrakulov are both juniors from the International High School at Lafayette in Brooklyn. They hail from Mexico and Uzbekistan respectively and have a bright future ahead of them in their new home here in the United States. Though their time working with AID FOR AIDS may have been short, the legacy they have left behind in the organization will have a lasting impact. Being a non-profit organization, we often rely on the commitment and dedication of volunteers and interns. However, our Administrative Assistant, Lizette Gonzalez, explains that from the very first day there was something a little different about these two students. “We…

In spite of the pouring rain, we persevered to the finish line of this year’s AIDS Walk New York 2013! Around 50 team members came out with boots, rain jackets, and umbrellas to complete the 6-mile route around the perimeter of Central Park. Although we had hoped for more favorable weather conditions, we were absolutely thrilled to still see so many faces and receive so much support in this year’s walk! The AID FOR AIDS team would like to especially thank our Co-Captains of the Young Generation Team, Camila and Manuela Arria-Maury! Their commitment and leadership in this year’s walk helped bring new life and energy to our team as we walked together for an AIDS-free generation. Also, we would like to recognize the team’s top fundraiser Beatriz de la Mora, who singlehandedly raised over $3,000! Her ongoing support and longtime commitment to our cause makes her a very…

New York (May 14, 2013) — After a long, arduous process of re-branding the image of AID FOR AIDS and completely overhauling our webpage, we are thrilled to present to you the new and improved AID FOR AIDS! AID FOR AIDS has grown more than we ever imagined, and the changes you will see with the launch of our new image reflect the process of evolution and maturation of AID FOR AIDS as an international organization. These changes also mark an opportunity to present more clearly our work and impact around the world, not only graphically, but also in a more strategic and structural manner. We have also revamped our mission and vision. While we continue highlighting our flagship HIV Medicine Recycling Program, the largest of its kind in the world, we are also bringing more visibility to our unique model of empowerment and to the range of comprehensive…
