NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2012 – AID FOR AIDS International (AFAI), an organization providing vital services and access to medication to people with HIV in over 40 countries worldwide, is presenting its commitment “Empowering Communities for an AIDS-Free Generation” at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting this week. AFAI’s commitment develops a new campaign to educate and empower key vulnerable populations in six Latin American countries: Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela. More specifically, the commitment will reach thousands of women, girls, men who have sex with men, and transgender women. As part of a widespread educational and media campaign, we will implement a series of workshops focused on HIV prevention strategies and fighting discrimination and stigma, as well as encouraging testing among the target populations. AID FOR AIDS Video Featured on Univision’s “A Tu Salud!”

For the second year in a row, AID FOR AIDS International’s (AFAI) campaign, “Leaving a Footprint for a World Without a Trace of HIV,” will be featured on the show: ¡A tu Salud! Through a video featuring the campaign, AFAI seeks to bring awareness about the HIV epidemic, while promoting its program which consists of recycling and redistributing HIV medicines. Through this program, AFAI has distributed over $85 million in HIV medicine to over 40 developing countries. ¡A tu Salud! is a health and wellness television series created by The Mount Sinai Hospital for the Latino community. The program spotlights some of the key health issues affecting the Latino community and teaches viewers how to overcome illness and take charge of their health through inspirational, informative and uplifting stories.
