It doesn’t get any better than Kiki Valdes and Michael Margulies putting their talents together to raise money for AID FOR AIDS.  On Saturday, June 30th between 6P and 10:30P, the Miami born, New York based artist who recently signed for representation with Margulies’ Miami based agency will display his works at 80 West End Avenue and 25% of the proceeds will be donated to AID FOR AIDS. The sale entitled Studio World is set up to feel more like you are visiting Mr. Valdes’ studio than going to a show.  “It’s less formal and more insightful…a peek into the process of making art.  It’s more of a pop up/studio experiment. Things you don’t really have an opportunity to show at a formal exhibition,” said Mr. Valdes. The works themselves will be paintings and small drawings from 2009 till now…a variety of affordable art.  The studio will be open to…

This week’s Gay Pride March even drew the love of Mother Nature.  She gave us the most perfect weather in which to demonstrate our support in Fighting for A World Without a Trace of HIV.  On June 24th, AFAI’s group of fighters had a great time passing on the word about the life saving work we’ve done in Latin America and the Caribbean as well as around the world.  Our float reflected AFAI’s commitment to fight the stigma and discrimination through advocacy, education, social reform and access to treatment. About a dozen of our team wore tee shirts which were hand-made and were designed to display the work that we do in Advocacy, Education, Prevention and our signature life-saving Medicine Recycling program.  The rest of our group who wore them, had been given beautiful, unique tee shirts designed by Denise Flasz.  We got our party on early with DJ Dimitris…

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of meeting Eric Castellanos, President of C-NET+ (Collaborative Network of People Living with HIV), the only NGO in Belize for people living with HIV or AIDS, and focal point of REDCA+ (Central American Network of People Living with HIV) at our New York office.  Eric came to the United States to participate in a conference in Idaho and took time out of his schedule to visit and tell us about his moving story as a beneficiary of our AIDS Treatment Access Program. Eric is 36 years old, lives in Belize and was diagnosed with HIV in 1995. In order to receive necessary antiretroviral therapy, he had to move to Mexico and reside there for years.  However, he was unable to restore his health due to constant shortages of medicine. As a result, he suffered many side effects and a viral load increase…
